Ball Python Skin Crack
So my ball python is going through another shed cycle, and she's in her final stage. However, I noticed that she has a small crack in the skin she's about to shed. Is this a bad sign?

Re: Ball Python Skin Crack
What do you mean by crack in the skin do you mean the layer that is about to shed is dry and will come off in pieces or do you mean the layer underneath is splitting exposing flesh.
If it's the first one you need to adress humidity, and afterward if the shed is not coming off complitely you will need to address that.

I mean the skin that is about to come off is cracked. It is tiny, but still a little noticeable. I've had humidity between 50 and 70 percent during her entire cycle, so I see no reason why that would be the issue

What type of hygrometer are you using?

Humidity should be 50% to 60% regularly and 70% to 80% during a shed cycle. I'm assuming her skin is dry.

I wouldn't worry about it until after the shed. If there's still some shed on it after a few days post shed I'd soak it in a tub of warm water. I had a couple weird shed problems, my dwarf retic was on paper and had a super stuck shed. I put her on Reptichip and it still didn't come off, so I soaked her and after just a few minutes it was peeling off. I also had one ball python that had a shed that rolled up into a noose part way down it's body and stayed there for a week, pinched that poor guy really good. I finally had to pick at it with my fingernails for about five minutes to finally get the noose off, it was really weird. Probably would have done some damage long term.
