    bath time?

Do y'all ever bathe your boas? It had never really occurred to me until i saw someone post something about it elsewhere. So how about it? And if you do, how warm is the water, how do you do it and when?

The only reason I would is if one of them got "artistic" in the enclosure after having a bowel movement. Normally I use unscented non-alcohol-based baby wipes to clean them up but occasionally they just get nasty. Otherwise no, they don't get baths.

Bath water temp should be in the mid-80's, use a candy thermometer to measure it. The water doesn't need to be deep either, just enough to cover the boa's back.

f they're not used to being in water giving them something to grab helps keep them settled and in the tub, as opposed to climbing the walls, the fixtures, the shower curtain, etc.

    Re: bath time?

One of my boas managed to smear blood all over herself while constricting her f/t prey (you can never be too sure that it's dead!). A wipe down with a warm cloth sufficed. I've had to soak snakes due to incomplete sheds a time or two, and once for constipation in a rescue, but baths don't serve much of a purpose in snakes. Unlike some reptiles, they actually drink from standing water if they're thirsty haha

Not unless they are actually dirty or due to mites although I do let them in the dog pools outside sometimes.

I soak mine in large Sterilite tubs after they decide to play patty cake with their poops. Usually its just me scrubbing them down with paper towels while they hang their head over the edge of tub though lol.

Jeeze, you know i forgot to subscribe to my own thread! thanks for the replies everyone, and sorry i didn't thank you earlier!
Goingpostal, that dog pool is hilarious but that BC is amazing! (Guy/Sur, i'm guessing?)
I like the baby wipe idea as i have lots of them at all times - interestingly, iv'e noticed that sometimes Irwin goes for a dip in his bowl after pooping - or maybe before - of course i never witness it, i just notice that the towels around the water are very wet but only with clean water while all the urine, urate, and feces are over in the opposite end of his tank; He's a very sanitary snake

Brilliant, i'm pining for a BCC, although coral albinos always catch my eye too. Its funny, at first i was so completely disinterested in morphs and locales and such, but after a few months of being on forums and combing classifieds, i fear i'm becoming something of a snake snob (now if only i had the bank account to match my pretentiousness)
Thats ok, my nice and normal Irwin keeps me grounded.
