Re: Another bp set up question....

OK. What do keep your bp temperature at? I have heard 86-88 at hot side during day and 80-82 at night and keeping cool side above 72

For hot side for 2 of my bps that have uth I keep it at 90 on top of substrate and under under is 93. I did have to thin out the substrate over the uth a little to have the correct on top of substrate. The lowest my cool side gets in the cages are 79 and the highest is 83 but I like to keep it around 80-82 but sometimes I have no control over it do to the ac in my house, I could turn the ac down but I don't bc I'm still in the safe zone. Generally hot side you want 88-90 and cool 78-82, minimum cool sidr would be 75, max hot 94 under substrate, and max on top of substrate 92 but try for between 88-90. I'm guessing your getting a younger snake so I would aim for 88 for your hot side on top of substrate.

What do you plan on using as substrate?

Re: Another bp set up question....

With Repti bark you may have to put quite a few holes in your tub bc I hear it holds moisture well which will cause humidity to be high. I've never personally used it but other factors in your home will be at play so you may or may not have to put a bunch of holes, the only way to know for sure is to test it. Aspen may be the best choice, you will still need to put holes but not nearly as many. You could always just use paper towels as well. No matter what you decide just make sure yout check the humdity and make adjustments so it stays around 55%-65% humidity.

Idk if you have read this or how much research you have done but the link below is the care sheet. Also check out some of the stickies in each section, there is information on different ways of setting up bps and tons of other useful threads.

I have never used repti-bark only reason I was considering it is I see bhb reptile (snakebtyes-youtube) uses it an LLL reptiles as well. I used Aspen for many years when I owned snakes but found it messy although I was using cages then not tubs.... I also used newspaper but found it a daily choir too clean an held no humidity...
