I one hundred percent agree with using back-up t-stats but I don't understand how stacking racks or using (3) 10 tub racks instead of (1) 30 tub rack per t-stat main/backup is less safe?
Difference is I don't put all my eggs in the same basket ; ).

I feel more comfortable using 10 slot racks than 20 or 30 too, might be paranoia but when I had the failure it was only in a 10 high rack and thankfully it was bulls naked not ball pythons. If it had been BP and a 30 tubs rack the casualty could have been severe, so when I do use a hot spot which I only do 4 months of the year I try to make sure that the risk is minimal and if something did happen I would only loose a very small portion of my collection.

Hence the 1 tstat per rack and the back up, I know other breeders, that also believe in the one rack one t-stat, usually those are old school breeder but old school does work
