Re: Please Help! My ZooMed Terrarium is too cold:(
Send back that gauge. The are very inaccurate. I will say again order the acurite 00891 and it will give you a probe for hot side under substrate on top of glass over heat mat and then you can use the whole unit on cool side for cool side temp and humidity. If your worrying about ruining the uth by pealing it off then just gently peal it back and push the thermostat probe in and then press firmly to sandwich it and then take foil tape and tape the uth to the bottom of the tank. I have pealed back and moved several zoo med uth with no problem, some more than once but I always foil tape them down bc after awhile they will peal off on there own.
This is a picture of my test setup for my toffino enchi I'm getting in 2 weeks. The thermometer in the back right is the acurite 00891 and you can see the probe wire running to the left, I will bury the wire before the snake goes in, the acurite is giving me the probe reading 90.5 (hot side) 81.1 cool side and 36% humidity ( will bring humidity to proper spot once snake is in). This thermometer is what you should get, you will have very accurate readings, I have tested them and own 11.

Good choice lol sorry to keep making you spend money but its going to save you a lot of stress later on but after that you should be all good to go! Initial setup can be a little pricy but after that it's pretty much just rats and bedding! Only other things I would recommend is a PVC cage with rhp and herpstat but the glass tank and everything else will do just fine but keep it in mind once your snake grows up.
Your in Canada right? The acurite 00891 is on amazon Canada. Also check out this website that's in Canada and keep it in mind whenever you wanna upgrade.

It's ok. One should be expected to spend some money whenever they get a new pet. But I must admit, it is a lot more complicated than I thought lol. I would never listen to pet store sales people on how to take care of pets anymore ...
They are supposed to be specialized in reptiles but they even sold me a snake of the opposite gender that I wanted....

Congrats on your new friend and that all is well with him.
I try to make things as easy as possible:

To help with humidity loss you can also cover the screen top in cardboard. After you are done trimming the cardboard you can wrap it in aluminum oil so it will last.

The pet associates usually dont know what they are talking about other than a little training pamphlet they hand out (the same one they give customers). On top of that, the tank kits make you believe that it has everything you need to immediately put an animal in it (it even says snakes). Problem is, the kit doesnt come with a humidity gague or a way to regulate the light or the pad... just a recipe for disaster. Also, just because something says snakes or has a picture of a snake doesnt mean trust it without research. Sand substrate packages says they are GREAT for snakes, but seem to be good at killing them.
