Bc I don't have the rhp yet, it will be here sometime next week. I just silicon sealed the cage and it takes a little bit to cure and if I don't use the basking shelf I want to silicon the screw holes that would be used for the basking shelf but if I wait until the rhp gets here and it doesn't work I'll have to wait even longer to put the snake I'm getting in there. I'm inpatient lol.

Oh. Well I guess being a fellow impatient person, I understand. Lol

I feel like it would probably be more than just a couple degrees more, since it will probably take quite a bit of heat to get through the shelf and heat the bottom to 90, I'm just speculating, though.

Well the cage is 24 inches wide and the shelf is like 5 inches wide so it doesn't have to heat through the shelf. The rhp will be directly over top of 3 inches of the shelf and the rest of the rhp will be over the ground with nothing in between them.

Are you going to be taking the temp out from underneath the shelf? If so I'd imagine it would be fine.

Unless anyone else has any input I may just cut the basking shelf so its only on the cool side.

I was going to suggest putting it on the cool side, but I wasn't sure if it was possible.

Yeah it runs the whole length of the cage but I can cut it down so it will run only 1/3 to 1/2 of the cage so the rhp won't hit it directly or at least only a tiny portion of it.
