Thank you, yes I do find it interesting.

Those statements make me wonder if his male is just a carrier for that issue, whether gene related or otherwise.

Sounds to me that it would best to stop producing his line or cull to let that issue eventually die out. While not cost effective, his snakes do affect the community since the "bad" offspring are dispersed about.
