BRB - Need help!

I personally wouldn't do it, the breeder I got my little guy from breeds hypos too and none of his have that issue...

That would make sense, since he is breeding THAT particular line. If his original stock had/has this problem and it is passed down, then YES, it a characteristic of a certain line, HIS line. And maybe a problem with the line that his original stock came from as well?

"He has not seen a vet, but that is because his stomach issues are a known factor for hypo lines. Certain hypos and hets just seem to have regurg issues if fed larger meals. He is otherwise healthy and interactive."
"Only some of the older hypo lines have the issue. The newer models have (mostly) bred it out. I have a classic old-line hypo male, but curiously he never regurgs. One or two of his kids do though. Go figure!"

Those statements make me wonder if his male is just a carrier for that issue, whether gene related or otherwise.

Sounds to me that it would best to stop producing his line or cull to let that issue eventually die out. While not cost effective, his snakes do affect the community since the "bad" offspring are dispersed about.

Agreed. Since not all hypos are affected, it's better off for the integrity of the animals that he gets hypos without this problem. It is sure perplexing however!

Just bought a different BRB. October 15 baby. From the sounds of it though there won't really be much weight difference. The one I bought was over $100 cheaper anyway, a normal, problem-free and pretty. My friend has an October baby too and hers weighs over 100g. Can't justify the het hypo male in this case, honestly. Hope he does find a good home however. I might have taken him so I knew he'd be well cared for if this wasn't my first BRB. I figure I should learn to get a BRB thriving before I take a sick one. Still might've done it if he was bigger and not taking /mouse hoppers/ at 2 years old and regurging often. :/ I want wants best for him and without me dealing with BRBs previously I don't feel like I'd be his best home.

Honestly, his lighter colored eyes sold me. I imagine he'll brown out but he's a pet.... once I have their care down I'll feel better shelling out for a high red or something

Ok, I take back the brown comment after seeing him on my true color monitor. Holy crap!

Yup BRB don't brown out like BP. They only get better with age. They tend to get much redder/oranger as they get older to and that looks like a pretty nice one so you will have a lot to look forward to!

Huh, I was told they DO brown out. Now I'm more excited!

Well don't take my word for it lol. But all the adults I've seen look WAY better than the babies and the one I have gets better with every shed so it sure seems like it.
