They are both the same stuff. Just Novalsan is the "brand" name per say and more expensive. Regardless, buy in concentrate and not premix as it will be cheaper that way and you mix up your own strengths. You can also check out F10SC. I used to use Chlorhexadine for everything but I have switched to F10SC. I just like the smell of it better. Both are also just disinfectants, they arem't cleaners like a soap.

    How safe is f10sc?

Can a disinfectant be used alone or do you also need a cleaner?

Can you use the disinfectant every cleaning week or should you use it every other week?

F10SC is safe as Chlorhexadine. I use both products on everything in the cage including waterbowls. I also have used it in a more diluted form on a wet paper towel to wipe down my snakes combined with a bath when they decide to body paint the cage with poop.

I use F10SC to spot clean poop and also I spray down the cages once a month when I do full cage cleanings. It works fine. I only really use dish soap on my water bowls. Like once a year i'll strip down my cages and take them outside and hose them off with dish soap but normally just use F10SC disinfectant.

You can use it every week if you want or even every day. I usually will rinse with my diluted spray bottle of F10SC after each animal. I used to do the same with Chlorhexadine.

When you clean bowls with f10sc or chlorhexadine does it have to be rinsed after or is it ok if there are traces in the water?

I'm sure its fine as Chlorhexadine can be used as mouth rinse for humans and animals in diluted form and F10SC can be used in nebulizers for RI. With that said though, I generally try and rinse the bowls well. I usually will do a few full flushes with the hottest tap water out of the sink and then a couple cold rinses too and then I fill the dish. Now I do change my snakes waters' daily so I just F10SC their bowls once a week.

Actually Chlorhexadine and F10SC will kill pretty much all reptile "germs" except crypto. For that you need either ammonia or hydrogen peroxide.

Can hydrogen peroxide be mixed with f10sc or chlorhexadine for crypto?
