You seem obsessed with this "glamour shot" concept. A properly white balanced photograph on a clean background doesn't make it a "glamour shot". When I take my pictures under my light kit, I always include four paint chips from Home Depot that I crop out. The reason I do this is so that a customer can check to make sure that I have not manipulated the colors in the picture. What the buyer should want is a picture that has colors that are accurate to what the eye sees. Some cameras do this quite well in their automatic settings, some people enjoy taking pictures on a clean background so that the snake pops.
