    Wow! you go big or go home with your first snake! I think you chose very wisely for a first snake not just on morph but on species...your honorable mention is beautiful but that's a species known to have some 'attitude'.

    Nice BP, glad you did your homework first. Now, about that honorable mention, don't even think about it for a couple years. ETB is not a snake for the beginner.

    Don't worry, I wouldn't even think of owning something like that for a long while. I've heard they're quite feisty but beautiful none the less which is why I'm fine admiring from afar.

    And thanks everyone!

    good. it's not just their possible feistiness (and associated long teeth). their husbandry needs are more demanding and the snake less tolerant of errors than more common "starter species". a species doesn't need to be feisty in order for it to be unsuitable for less experienced keepers. nonetheless, as you keep snakes longer and grow to understand them two things will happen;

    1) you will become more comfortable and confident with feisty snakes.
    2) the better you understand snake behaviors (general, species specific and individual) the less feisty the snakes will become.

    A great animal with a great story. Tom and Garrick are truly class acts and are an awesome duo for anyone to have their first snake experience with - especially at a show such as Tinley Park. Congrats on your new addition!
