Ideal Cage Setups
I have had my bp for about a year and a half. I just moved into a new place and have to keep the cage (50 gal) in the garage. The temperature fluctuates so much from night time in the low 60s, to 90 during a sunny day (when we pull our cars into the garage after driving). What are some good tips for trying to regulate temp? I currently have a basking light setup right on top of a branch he seems to use at night. On colder nights I have a separate heat lamp right over his 1 large hide. I currently have his water dish completely opposite the heat elements. I'm using reptile turf. Should I have multiple hides? Use a heating pad? Different substrate? What should I do differently? I'm new to this forum so any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
DerekKoop

Yes this. My tubs even fit under beds which I used to do years ago when I had a landlord and I didn't want him to know my snakes were there.

Get a 41-qt Sterilite storage tub you can slide under the bed. Use luggage straps to secure the lid to the tub. Add an under tank heat pad + thermostat. Welcome ball python to its new home. Ditch the tank.
There is no way I would leave a snake in an environment with the ambient temperature of 90*F or higher - never mind being exposed to the chemicals and other pollution comes out of a car.

Sorry for being snarky...that's not my personality...I've been feeling guilty about my post. I just hated the thought of your snake breathing in exhaust and pollution. Hope you get him/her in a tub soon inside the house. Take care <3
