Now maybe an RI for my Brazilian Rainbow?

She ate while in shed week, shed perfectly. All in one piece except where she rubbed the head scales off. Technically 3 pieces but 6 ft was one piece. Since she was in shed mode, I kept her humidity at 90+%. She seemed happy and exploratory. Even more so than usual, just coming right out of her cage and onto me.

But now, two days later she seems to be wheezing.

She he has a t8 animal plastics terrarium, radiant heat panel (thermostat at 74 in middle of tank), huge water bowl and three hides. I just changed her substrate the day after the shed (I use forest floor Cyprus mulch). The new substrate caused there to be a lot of water on the glass doors from the humidity. If I raise temps it'll raise humidity right now. I put random paper towels in there to soak up moisture.

Do do I raise the temp? Lower the humidity? Can she get better on her own or is this going to be a trip to the doc? just got done dealing with mites on my BP. Thankfully she never got them, but now I'm worried about an RI in my BRB! Help! And thank you.

Sometimes wheezing can be the result of a very small piece of stuck shed around the nose or mouth that can create a wheeze/whistle when breathing normally.

Do you see any signs of mucous or phlegm coming out of the snake's mouth? Any mucous spots on the cage walls? Any bubbling in the snake's mouth? Usually these symptoms are present during the course of an RI. What are your hot and cool side temps?

I wouldn't immediately raise temps, as anything over about 85 can potentially be fatal for a BRB

Being the pvc cage, the temps and humidity even out pretty quickly from side to side. The radiant heat panel doesn't run that often because the insulation is so good. It never goes above 81 anywhere in the cage. It stays at 73-77 90% of the time. On both sides. Humidity is always high but I'm concerned I made it too high.

I will check for the possible remaining shed on her nose. No mucus or anything obvious. She got right up in my face and let me get a good look at her but I'll check more thoroughly for left behind shed.

If if it matters it's not constant. It's about every 15-30 seconds. I assume she breathes faster than that when being held because she's constantly moving. I hope it goes away. :/

Well, not seeing any mucous or bubbling is a good sign. Hopefully it resolves for you quickly.

You can take those temperatures up a bit more. While BRB's do need to stay cooler than ball pythons, 73-81 is a bit low, aim for 75-85*F.

I keep mine in the mid-high 70 degree range with a hot spot in the low mid 80s

Well, after a thorough check, there were no remaining pieces of shed. The humidity has lowered to about 75 and I've been checking up on her daily. She didn't eat when offered, but seems to be slightly more active and when I took her out for a hold today the wheezing was gone. Im thinking the humidity was too high for too long. A long shedding process and then new substrate caused it to be high. Lesson learned. Thanks for help everybody.
