It's got spacers. Between it and the tank. I'll see about getting some thermostats but it won't change the temp of the pad.

A thermostat is there to regulate the heat source to a set temperature so yes it will change the temperature.

And it's not hit to the touch really just warm

You are warm blooded, your snake is cold blooded. Warm to you can me scalding to him.

IDK ill have to look into it he seems to love that spot though. I know the heat rocks are a no go. But the couple breeders I've talked to and the one I got him from said they use under heat pads didn't tell me to get a thermostat but I'll see what's out there
