    Re: New Ball Python setup!

I will post pics when I get it all set up. I had a ball python about 10 years ago and still had some supply's. So right now he is in a 36x18x18 exo terra with reptichips substrate, a CHE over a hide out and a water bowl. I have ordered 2 - 11x17 heat mats and 1 - 40 watt RHP from reptile basics. Ordered two thermostats, zilla carpet, and a hydro/tempmeter. All will be here by Friday to do the proper setup. Still need to get foam board to wrap three sides with, another hide, & decorations all of which I plan on getting from a hobby shop. Since the RHP is 12x12 it will cover most of the hot side top 18x18 so not sure if I need to cover that side to hold in humidity but plan on getting glass cut to cover the cool side 18x18. I am also trying to set mine up like a zoo look that's why I like this set up.

Wow, that's so cool! I've always wanted to make a setup like this. Love it!

@ratchet @Lady mkjr58 @Megg thank you for the compliments! The maintenance of a setup like that is not so hard, so just do it!

@amcgee2842 sounds good, my goal was it too to create a show cage like in a zoo. It's almost a pity that ball pythons are just active at night, why I think about to install a moonlight bulb for the early evening hours.
Do you need a heater in Texas just for Winter or the whole year?

I guess you could live with out a heater in Houston but we do get freezes from time to time although not often. During the winter I usually set my heater on 67. We may get a cold spell in Nov and Dec but Jan and Feb are the only months it gets cold. The last four days the low's have been right above freezing around 35 ish but this weekend the highs are 70 and low's 50 ish. The summers will get way to hot with no a/c. The inside of the house could exceed 90 degrees so have to crank on the ac to get it down to 74-76.

Not totally done need to add some fake plants, take foil off and replace with wood or glass, add cork board or something on the sides, and add a night light.
