my friendliest BP's are my paradox BEL and Pieds. they don't exactly come out of their tubs to greet me, but i haven't really tried it. maybe i will. anyway they don't mind handling, will chill with me and explore when they're bored.
RIP Mamba

What a beautiful pied! I am really starting appreciate my snakes more for their personality than their beauty. As I said, 9/10 of my snakes won't come out of their hide and don't become friendly until I've removed them from their environment and basically forced them to start exploring. Quorra is unique as she comes out of her hide as soon as she sees me in the room. I almost feel bad when I can't handle her because she sits at the window trying to get out for a good 20 minutes before she gives up and goes back in her hide.
It's nice to see other BPs have this quality and I'm interested in the boas that are similar. I've been thinking of a Hogg Island or Dumeril's for a while now.

Re: Anyone else have a super friendly BP?
Yeah, my 2010 albino female in my avatar is by far the most shy ball python I have. She has been through so much in the line of illnesses. She actually almost died back in 2012 with a septicemia. Bounced back and just laid her virgin clutch of eggs in August of 2015. She is a real miracle story. All the eggs (5) were healthy and are double het albino pieds. I held back a male and two females. She is my pride and joy! Actually, in the avatar pic she is gravid.

I also have an Albino that's tame as a puppy. He's our ambassador to people who aren't too comfortable with snakes.

Wow MM, that's so cool! Maybe we should start doing some presentations about ball python behavior and care? These albino balls could possibly take us very far. LoL. That SFV stands for San Fernando Valley, correct?

Re: Anyone else have a super friendly BP?
My young BP doesn't come out of his hide for me too, but if I handle him he gets so curious and starts climbing all across me, although he's about to fall down every time ^^ but he never tried to bite me or anyone else although I got this young fellow (~3 months) for about 3 weeks

Re: Anyone else have a super friendly BP?
My little snoot is very friendly, he responds if not to my voice, then at least the vibrations of me talking and moving around and comes out of his hide when I come into the living room. Any time I open his cage for any reason (unless he's eaten recently) he comes out to investigate and will crawl up my arm if it's offered. He's supper calm when held, and really likes curling up on my lap under the blankets when I'm watching tv at night.

Re: Anyone else have a super friendly BP?
My normal ball loves to be out but gets into all kinds of stuff if you're not watching her - behind the TV (tangled around the wires), got herself stuck in the handle of a mug a couple of weeks ago (didn't see that coming and it was hard to get her to back out!), had to dig her out of my rocker/recliner as she had gotten half of her body down between the armrest and seat (again a real tricky process to reverse) and then one night she wrapped on our wrought iron handrail on our stairs so tight that it took me minutes to free her (my first experience with her). Have to watch her constantly! My boa mostly stays attached, in some manner, to me, usually by his tail. Not nearly as adventurous but he is getting better all the time. They are amazingly strong and I can see the day coming that I won't be able to allow the boa to hang around my neck!

That's correct sir. Did you used to live in South California? Some local presentations regarding BP care would be great.
