Snake rack

Can u utility osb be used to make a snake rack, first time building one and just wanted to try with some cheap material (cost wise) just in case it doesn't come out how I want.

If you keep the lids on the tubs yes.
I wouldn't try using OSB without them.

So if I wanted to do no lids what other materials can I use besides melamine and pvc

Nothing where the material is as cheap as OSB or it would be in use already.

And honestly even melamine swells enough with a lid-off design that my future racks will be made of PVC.

I'll give the osb a try see how that come out or I'll try plywood. If it comes out good I'll find some pvc

I used maple hardwood plywood for my build. It took one and a half sheets for mine but i made it pretty big. I paid $50 a sheet at Lowes. You can find oak for cheaper some places. Here is a link to my thread:

if you have the osb, you could maybe try to cover it with some laminate sheeting... like what is used for countertops. Then just silicone seal all of your joints... should make it pretty "moisture proof".

Love your post and build, I was actually looking at maple hardwood but wasn't to sure if I can use it. So I will be going out today to look for the materials.

Thanks. It actually turned out really well. The maple is great it looks really nice. The stain possibilities are endless. You just want to make sure you seal it a few times to protect it from water damage. Also make sure all stain and sealant is water based. I would also see if there is a store that would cut the wood for you as that would be much easier. I was able to cut it at home but found that it was easier to let the store do it for me. Saved time and labor.

Did you purchase the 3/4 maple plywood from Lowes or the 1/4?
