The min and max are of the temps from a certain span of time(not sure on the length). So you could put one on the hot side and one on the cool side and the temps should read accordingly.
Yes I know what they are, but the problem is the device doesn't read how it does in that picture, it only shows the time, "outdoor" temp, and the humidity. I have to press a button to show the "indoor" temp, in which it only gives me the min and max. Therefore I never really know what the temp is on the cool side.
