Do you have a scale? A general rule of thumb is to feed a prey item 10-15% of the snakes weight. Alternately, a prey item that is approximately the same circumference as your snake at its largest point or slightly larger - so it leaves a small bump.

I agree. We probably need to know her weight to see the correct size of rat to feed her. But as mentioned before a prey item that is roughly the size of the biggest part of her body would be good.

Like stated, a scale is needed- but from the picture, it looks like rat pups are too small. She looks like she can be on large weaned or small rats.

Rat pup? Lol, not even close. That's WAY too small.

Start with a small adult and see how that goes for her.

From that picture, it looks like she could even do a medium rat just fine. She's pretty thick.

I agree, pup rats would be way too small. I would take a guess at small rats.

Re: What size of rat to feed.

Thank you all. I order small rat for now, see how that goes. I just got her 2 days ago and don't want pull her to put scales. I will find out how much she weigh in the next week. Thank you for the help.

Re: What size of rat to feed.

I would stick with a small rat. There is no reason to ever feed a ball python anything larger unless it is quite a large animal (I mean close to 3000 grams big)! If you feed a normal sized meal at a regular interval, your snake will thrive and grow properly
