Banana Quality?

I saw this little guy at the local pet store for 225$. I'm wondering about his quality because my s.o. really wants a banana and omg there's a banana here can we can we can we can we PLEASE. I'm much more reserved about it because while I'm definitely not that familiar with the morph, I expected the colors to pop more. Somehow, he actually looks better in the picture than he does in person - in person there's barely any variance in color at all, he just looks really washed out. The shop owner just picked it up yesterday, so I guess it could be getting ready to shed even though none of the signs are there. Anyone that could educate me and let me know what they think of this little guy would be greatly appreciated!

If you're less than impressed with him on the first day you met him, how are you going to feel about him after cleaning up after him for a few years?

Not to give the cliche answer, but that's the answer that makes the most sense: only buy animals that YOU like. We can all have opinions (and, TRUST me - we do), but at the end of the day it's your animal.

EDIT: In my opinion, there's not enough of him showing for me to have an informed opinion.

This is true! I have very little experience seeing Banana Balls in person, though, so wasn't sure and wanted to ask if maybe my expectations weren't where they should be. I should be back to the pet store on Saturday for rats, so I'll get some full body pics if he's still there.

When I saw my spinner blast, it was an entirely different story. I went back and saw him twice because on the first day I saw him I was immediately like I MUST have that snake. To which my practical side said 'No, you WANT that snake'. When he was still available a week later, I told the practical side to shove it.

I was browsing banana balls because i want a banana in my collection. I ADORE the morph for whatever reason, that and Toffino's and lavender albinos...

i saw one i just HAD to have. I contacted the breeder and asked for updated pictures and confirmed it WAS The one i initially saw. He was a bit pricier than i'd have liked to pay (In total i spent $350 that includes the shipping) but i dont care, because out of all the bananas i saw, it was HIM i wanted. I dont care on the price at this point. he also happens to be a pastel banana.

but any banana to me is pretty >> im a bit biased lol

Keep your expectations high! How awesome would it be if every snake in your collection had a story like your Spinner Blast story?

I waited longer than most to have a Banana in my collection for this very reason. My girl is incredible and I wouldn't trade her for the world. It's obvious you feel the same way about your boy.

There's all sorts of variance with bananas, I've seen some breeders that seem to have bananas with more purple, some with more yellow/orange, and then there's the ones with tons of the spots and some with none. Hell I've seen a regular banana that looked more like a pastel than an actual pastel banana.

I was so excited when I finally purchased my banana in October. I think he is of high quality. Whether he is a male maker or female maker is unknown since his parents were both bananas (the dam was a pastel banana) so now I have the nicest (IMO) looking pastel banana male. I wouldn't settle for anything less.

When it comes to quality, I always assume that what I think is high quality is different to others. If you are not super in love with the little guy to the point you have to ask, you should skip on it. There are a lot of breeders out there with bananas now that you shouldn't have an issue finding one you are absolutely in love with.

He does look a bit dull compared to some bananas I saw in Daytona. I would pass on him, if I were to see him in a store.

That said, if you are lacking in enthusiasm as he is this young, you'd probably end up disappointed in him as he grows. I'd wait and find a really awesome banana.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I firmly believe in only owning animals that appeal to me, I do not want to own a specific mutation just because I want to be able to say I have it, I am picky and there are times where it took me as long as two years to find the specific individual I wanted.

Remember YOU are the one that will be caring for this animal for years to come.

Also keep in mind that Banana and CG change over time here is an idea for you on what to expect.
