How Do You Secure Your Thermometer?

This is a bit off topic, but are you using a UTH? I assume you have some way to accurately measure the temp of the actual hot spot where the snake rests? A thermometer a few inches up the wall measuring the ambient on the warm side can't do this, and the snake might get a burn, even if the temp. on the thermometer looks good.

I am using a Radiant Heat Panel - The heat gun reads the same or a degree higher than the thermometer. The temp in his favorite hide is 84 - 86
