    Marketing in 5 years

Some say its crashing, some say prices are just lowering and some say prices will go up a little bit in the next few years and start to steady out. What do you guys think BPs will be going for in 2020, Ill put up a list of some BPs and what I think there average price is right now, could you guys give me your opinion on what those would be going for in 2020? Thanks,

    ? ? ? ? ?

I personally think they will stay relatively the same and the market might get a little bit better. And not just these morphs let me know what you guys think the will be in just BP general pricing as well as some other morphs.

With an ultra luxury purchase like snakes, it is really hard to predict market fluctuations year to year. Once the novelty of a certain morph wares off, people become wary of paying inordinate prices.

You can’t predict prices from one year to another let alone in 5 years from now.

And as far as the market crashing if you pay attention and listen to people it always has been.

It’s not a problem of the market crashing it’s the natural course of supply and demand and the real issue is the people not being capable to evolve with the market (among other things)

If I had to estimate value for animals currently worth $200-600 in 5 years, I'd guess anywhere between $40-150. I was about to say $25-100.
Not what I would want to see, just what I kind of expect at this point.

Personally I wish all single gene morph animals would stay at a lowest price of $100 (or more!) with normals holding a base value of $50-100 but I've seen double co-doms for so cheap already, it seems to be going the way of the corn snake (with single/double/triple visual recessives for well under $100 now).

I searched old ads on faunaclassifieds vs current 'morph market' prices to try to illustrate why I would say such low prices. I guess I was bored. lol

    This is what I found:
    2003 & 2004 ads:
    male clown $14,000
    pair of albinos $7000 (3,500/ea)
    female albino $2,500
    male het red $3,500
    Ghost/hypo male $1,000
    1.3 pastels $1,700 ($425/ea)
    male pastel $2,000, $1,500
    male pied $10,500, $10,000

    2010 ads:
    clown $975, $1000
    albino $450, $400, $350
    het red $395, $250, $350
    ghost/hypo $175, $300, $200, $250, $400
    pastel $125, $65, $125, $150, $100, $200
    pied $980, $900, $1,100, $1,250, $825

    2015 ads:
    male clown $400, $500, $650, $800
    Albino $250, $400, $500
    het red $50, $100
    ghost/hypo $150, $100
    pastels $35, $65
    pied $325, $400, $500

I was pleasantly surprised that some prices were rather stagnant between 2010 til now so maybe there is hope.

The moral of the story is there's much better ways to make money.

If you're going to be a part of this industry, be ready to adapt to the market and not loose your passion. I've been on this forum for a few years and have seen so many people who light up, buy a bunch of snakes and then a few months later TRY to "liquidate" their collection. Which is aother reason I don't encourage people to breed.

Considering the ball python morph game started right around 92/93 with the albinos that were selling for bout $15K/pair, when any manner of them was for sale for YEARS before that for $10-20, and it's now 2015 and we're still here talking about them, ogling them and they still sell often and easily. I'd say the market will still be here in 5 years, and 10 years, and probably 20 years. What prices will be, no one could ever predict. Just look at Banana/Coral Glows. Two years ago they were the best new thing and cost thousands. Now you can literally get them for about the same price as any other desirable single gene snake. That's simply because the supply exploded from a lot of people trying to make a quick buck on the latest and greatest and flooding the market.

If you're just now considering getting into breeding. First, make for damn sure you're not doing it just to make money. That will not happen soon, if ever. Second, pick out what you like the most. I like axanthics. I've found I like the TSK line for color the best. So that's where I'm starting. I like spinners, I like Fireflies, I like zebra bees, so I'm going to work on making those. We'll see where I wander from there. If you really love the morph, and it's combinations and learn it inside and out, then people will like talking to you about it, they'll like looking at your snakes because you're excited about them, and if they decide to buy, they'll remember that.
