If you've already stuck the UTH to the bottom of the enclosure (which many before have done), don't try to pry it off to re-position the probe. You can just tape the probe to the under side of the UTH, making sure it's flush against it, rather than sandwiching it between the UTH and the glass.

I have used something similar for a few years now. This http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o01_s00
I have the 3 sensors but only the two is available right now. I use the IR temp gun for my hotspots and then have one sensor in three different cages for my ambient readings. I like that I can take the main station with me throughout the house and track temps or leave it in the snake room and get the ambient room temp as well. I have found it very handy and much better than the Accurite thermometers that are usually recommended. I don't remember how many of those I bought but they all died within a year.

Alright, have everything hooked up. Thermostat probe is outside tank wedged between uth and glass, thermometer probe is inside tank under substrate on top of glass, ambient temp thermometer is on wall of hot side and another thermometer on the other wall of the cool side. What temps am I looking for for all 3? What is the max temp the substrate probe should be? Going to need to play with thermostat to get the temps dialed in.

Sounds good!
Thermometer under substrate (hot spot): About 90°F (no higher than 95°F EVER)
Ambient temp: About 80°F
Thermostat setting: Whatever it takes to get your hot spot probe to sit at the above hot spot temp
