The probe for the thermostat is not technically a thermometer probe - it's really only a reporting mechanism placed on the outside of your enclosure for your thermostat to use. The thermometer probe SHOULD be on the inside of the enclosure at the hot spot to read the hottest temperature the animal has access to.









It was more for along the lines of not having to put the base unit inside the tank to have both sides of the tank covered for ambient. As for me I have a probe already for temp with my thermostat to test the surface.
