what should i get?
Hi! i'm going to be getting my very first snake on november 7th at the kentucky reptile expo in evansville indiana. i've done LOTS of research lately (im super excited) and i think i know what all i need. i just got a job too so i can get my baby the best! but i'm not sure what type of bp i want! i REALLY want a piebald bp but i have a sneaking idea that it might be too expensive. i'm also thinking about a bumblebee or maybe an albino. maybe a lucy? i want one that looks unique! if i can't get a piebald then what is a good bp morph that has nice popping colors that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? i don't care about breeding so that isn't an issue. the snake doesn't have to look perfect and show winning, i just want something cute with nice colors. any ideas? thank you!

Re: what should i get?
Depends on what YOU like. I'm a sucker for most patternless morphs myself, but I also love a nice Banana. You're asking a very personal preference question. Personally I'd tell you to look up a bunch of morphs but Internet pictures can never seem to fully do them justice. Explore the expo and get a good look at what's available in person. Get there early. I think when you see the one you want, you'll just know. Especially since you don't plan on breeding. I feel like indecisiveness will be totally normal because A. It's your first and B. There are just way too many amazing snakes out there. Hard to pick just one. Good luck.

IMO a Bumblebee is the most eye catching for the lowest price. You can get one for around $150-$200. Just look around at the show and find one in your price range that you really like.

To give you an idea of piebald pricing, I've seen females between $400-500 if you make sure to get to the expo early and look at every table. Males are often cheaper. Bumblebees are nice, but they get kind of brown with age (see if you can find some pictures of older bumblebees to see what I mean, I'll look around for some as well). Add fire and you have a nice yellow snake, but that will be more difficult to find and more expensive. The bumblebee is a gorgeous morph, though, and the first two gene ball python ever. I personally love them, browning out and all. The yellow in some albinos tends to bleed into the white areas, but that might not bother you. If you see a firefly, they tend to age well and they have some striking coloration. I agree that the best idea would be to see what you like when you get there, everyone does have their own taste in ball pythons after all. Be sure to have your setup ready to go before you get your snake and don't forget a thermostat. Oh, and everyone here loves pictures.

Re: what should i get?
When I decided to get back into keeping snakes. (I left my boas behind when I moved back to this country) I spent almost two years reading about snakes and checking out all kinds of morphs. I was so undecided for so long. Got close to buying a Cinnamon Champagne, but ultimately fell in love with a very feisty Super Cinnamon. Bought him on the spot. No regrets, just put my Champ on the "list" of possible snakes for the future. Getting ready to buy my next one in a month. I understand the struggle! I'm sure most people on here do. Lol

if you want a pet snake with no breeding thought then buy a desert fire, desert pastel or desert enchi female : they are super cheap because of the desert gene breeding issue but better looking than anything at this price, and also age very well.
if you have breeding thought and like white snake i will go super fire girl. more expensive than a pied but much more powerful for a small breeder.

oh man piebalds are expensive! i mean, i'm not sure how much i'll be making yet but i'm pretty sure i'll be getting minimum wage. i don't have to pay bills or anything so maybe i can save up and have enough before november! if i don't then too bad. i might get an albino for the eyes as well as the coloring. i used to have an albino rabbit and i adored her eyes. i'll check around and come as soon as it starts! thank you!

that's a good tip! since i'm not going to be breeding i'm fine with breeding issues. especially if it makes them cheaper!

yeah i know! i'm wanting to get my baby before winter sets in though. i'm still going for personality over looks though so that might make it easier on me. i would rather have the plainest friendliest ball with an amazing personality than an angry and feisty mystic potion!
