This was pretty pointless actually. Reptile mites need reptiles in order to live, so once you've killed the mites on and around your reptile the rest will die once 1 life cycle has passed. So the adults may live long enough to lay eggs on your wall but since the wall isn't a reptile those baby mites will just die without food.

Except a female can survive up to 18 months between blood meals. It's only in captivity that we provide mites with an all-you-can-eat buffet.

    1) Take a roll of paper towel and unroll as many squares as you have snakes. (10 snakes = 10 squares of paper towel).
    2) Spray Provent-a-Mite on the paper towel and allow it to dry (wait an hour to be safe).
    3) put 1 square of paper towel in each of the snakes enclosures
    4) repeat the same steps in 2 weeks or if paper towel becomes soiled.

    DONE!
so what exactly does this do? how long does the papertowel stay in the enclosure if it doesn't become soiled? and what do you mean by soiled?

Can you guys simply not buy Callingtons mite spray online ??
It's regarded as THE main mite treatment in the UK .. just spray for a few seconds in the viv and you're done .. the snake stays in all the time and if its a bad infestation on the snake you can spray directly on the snake avoiding eyes .. It is expensive at £24 but lasts a while and works perfectly , quickly and SAFELY !

No worries. its something that happens across all hobbies. we respond in a way we have known and understood for years. problem is, noobies dont know what we are saying yet. either way, its still the correct advice.

Interestingly enough, I looked up the active ingredient - D-PHENOTHRIN - and I couldn't find an equivalent product for sale to the public here in the US. It's used in wasp/hornet killers but as a stream to knock them out of the air, not as an aerosol product.

I did find several distributors if I wanted to buy truckloads of undiluted stuff but that would be overkill...
