Lounging in Water
So my BP has been literally LIVING in her water bowl. She just finished shedding last week so it isnt that. when i changed her water yesterday i checked for mites, i didnt see any in the water or on her. should i take her to the vet? she finished shedding last thursday i think it was ( dont have my notes). she hung out in her hide for a couple of more days, then she moved to her water bowl on monday and shes been hanging there since. i dont mess with her much. i mist the tank every morning and again in the evening, and ive been changing her water every other day instead of everyday because she stays in it so much and i dont want to bother her. should i be concerned? until this started she was spending all of her time in her hide, even before she started shedding. i'd catch her lounging in the water occasionally but she never stayed in it like she does now. i dont know if she stays in it all night, but this morning she was kind of stretched out in the tank when i checked on her; but within 30 minutes she was curled up in the water bow.

Is she too hot, maybe? She could be trying to cool down but I'm not sure about that

Re: Lounging in Water
good question. i finally got a temp gun, and i definitely see the difference between it and the probes!! her hot side right now is 90, cool side is 82. her water bowl is the left of the middle of the tank, closer to the hot side of the tank, but not hot, and its 84 degrees in her water. so, judging from the temperature "requirements" no it isn't too hot, but im not sure if its too hot for her.

Re: Lounging in Water
I've read that smaller hides might help get her out of her soaking habit. Also, using white paper towels to see if there are any mites in the tank at all (not just on her). I read an old post from 2014 that said they soak will sometimes soak if they're cold as well.

My first thought would be mites. Very important to rule that out first if you can. Then I would take a look at the hides. If they are too big the water dish can often feel like a more secure place to hide in. Also I know you said that you mist twice a day, but what is your humidity at? I have heard that if it is not humid enough and too dry, they will soak. I would also try lowering the temps a hair to see if that makes it more comfortable and try to rule that out as a possibility.

i have not seen any dots in her water. i am unsure if she is comfortable in her hide. i assumed she was though because she didnt start lounging in her water so much until after she shed, before that she was usually in her hide. this weekend i checked on her throughout the night and she actually does not stay in the water at night. she comes out and moves about the tank, all night almost. she is the only BP in here who stays in her water all day like that, so i dont know if its the room temp.
the humidity is up and down. but i try to keep it around 60. on days when i can come home for lunch i mist a third time. they are in their own room and i am the only one who goes in there so its easy to keep it closed up, problem is its hard to keep the room warm even with the AC vent closed.
