No. There is no consistent way to determine albinism in most bp's. However there have been instances where a het albino may have a general lighter coloration than a normal. This is a rare occurrence and cant be relied upon. Also there have been reports of a pink tongue over a black tongue in some albino hets. Certainly the onus is on the breeder /seller to be honest, and forthcoming about the genetics of the animal. He should have pictures of the parents, pictures of the parents locked , the eggs and the hatchlings. He should be able to give you a written guarantee of the het genetics and back it up! I just hatched out a clutch of double hets for pied x albino and I have all that for my potential customers.
Weird. My BP was considered something more than normal by other users on the forums, and his tongue is pink, I think.
Nice looking bp! He looks like more than just a normal btw! I would ditch the branch for a tight fitting hide. It could even be a cardboard box that he can squeeze into. How are you heating the enclosure?
The lighter overall coloration and the tongue color are things that have been thrown around in the quest for defining het albinos. The pictures, documentation of locks , eggs and hatchlings is the one thing a responsible breeder can do. The sure fire way to prove it out is to breed the animal appropriately. Thanks. Good luck. Also, the breeder should go out on the line to guarantee the genetics in writing along with all the other documentation.
