Mold on eggs
So I pulled back the Press n Seal to do a little air exchange and found some mold on the ends of two eggs. I should have taken pics but I was a bit surprised and so I just tended to the situation. I've seen pictures on here of eggs turning green and the egg shell molding, but this was different. It looked like golden brown fuzz, almost the color of the vermiculite. When I wiped it the mold came off the egg for the most part and clung together like cobwebs in a corner. I candled the eggs to make sure they were still viable and both still have good veins. They were laid on the 4th of July so not even half way cooked yet. Anyone else ever see this and should I be doing anything different? This is only a 4 egg clutch so I would sure hate to lose any of them.

My friend Brian say's it might be the vermiculite is too moist, and needs possible more air circulation over the vermiculite. Reset the vermiculite because mold spores will stay, so you'll need to do a whole new vermiculite.

I would suggest this as well. Setup a new tub and go from there. I have eggs turn green with mold but never that kind of mold. Please keep us updated.

Re: Mold on eggs
When I went to do the tub this morning the mold was back and even more advanced. Still not really a part of the eggs but spreading. I can still wipe the mold off the egg, so I set up a new tub and transferred the eggs. However, the eggs are stuck together and have some paper stuck underneath as well so there is still some of the original substrate in the mix. Hopefully this corrects the issue. Thanks for the suggestions and I will update as I continue.

Re: Mold on eggs
Sorry to hear this and hope the changed medium will be the answer. I used the glazed vermiculite and a diffuser along with the press and seal. What grade of vermiculite are you using?
Stay in peace and not pieces.

Baking soda helps deter mold. I wonder if adding some into the vermiculite would help...
