Getting discouraged

My first time attempting to breed. My female is 2400 grams proven breeder and my male is 700 grams. I have been putting them together for a few days then a week off. I check on them occasionally walk by there tub always expectant. I must have terrible luck because all i ever see is the male laying on the female. Tails opposite sides of the tub.

All i ever see is small blood trails on the papertowel the male looks intrested the female just seems to never move. Everytime that i clean her tub i try and feel for folicles. I dont notice anything but it could just be a untrained hand.

I am at a loss just coming here to see what the experienced have to say. Or could give me suggestions.

I don't even check most of the time because IF you catch the locks and she doesn't lay that will screw with your head even more.

Don't give up. It takes time, some males are a little slow to catch on to the idea of breeding. If you have the shed skin of another male,that you can put into the cage with your breeding pair. That will get them to breed sometimes. Just don't give up. They will breed when they are ready. Until then all you can do is wait. Just enjoy the ride.

Also, some males may not be interested in certain females. What you can add is a different male for that female or just keep separating them then reintroducing them. Try to time it right after the female sheds also. If you see a confirmed lock they don't need to remain together very long. 2 days , 3 at most.

She might not be putting out pheromones right now. Keep pairing her up and eventually the male should trigger her instincts. Did you double check that your male is in fact male?
this is my first season breeding and I had the same issue with one of my females. Shes proven and big enough but my male would not lock with her. After 3 months they finally did (for almost 2 days straight!) and nothing has changed since the first pairing. He had been producing plugs but had zero interest til now

Yes i have seen him popped and he had plugs at that time thanks guys i will just keep hoping.... Like i said there bloody trails and i was told that means hes dragging his penes around

The little blood trails are definitely a good sign, however, nothing is guaranteed. You could see them lock up a bunch of times and get nothing. It's especially difficult when you only have one breeding pair. Lots of breeders rotate multiple males through a female. Sometimes the scent of the other males will get them going. It's tough with only one pair. You need to be patient and persistent but keep in mind it could be a long haul...
