    Re: Egg cutting

Sorry if this is a high jacking but you can slap me later. My eggs are on day 59 I lost 3 to mold and the rest still candle ok. How soon should I see them deflate and pip? Is there a problem to go longer? If so how long is too long? The rest still candle good and I even saw one move in the egg. Again sorry if I high jacked but since we were on the subject I thought I would ask. TIA

    Re: Egg cutting

The bator temps vary anywhere from 85.7-90.3 I am not happy with it but I was caught off guard with the eggs and didn't have mine made yet so I borrowed this one. Exoterra not very impressed but none the less it was that or eggs go bad, so I gave it a shot. Had 8, 3 died from mold others still look like the day I put them in. So...thoughts opinions? Possibly will hatch just longer from lower temps?

I'm using the same incubator. I am expecting mine to hatch between day 55 and day 60, though I think it's very possible for them to go as long as 65 to 70 days with all the fluctuations. As long as the eggs still look healthy I wouldn't worry too much about it. Patience and all that...

I cut all of my clutches on day 55. Sorry...I can't wait any longer to see what's inside. They tend to start pipping on day 57-58 for me. Never had any issue with cutting the eggs and the hatchlings having problems.

I cut an egg years ago on day 55 and he didn't come out until day 65! That one had me a little worried.

I should learn to wait, but it's hard when day 55 comes around.

I had already one pipped and I did cut the rest. Based on your experience, how many days after should the hatchlings emerge out of their eggs after pipping?

Just make sure you use the same type of scissors that adult female pythons use in the wild.

My first season, I waited until the first egg of a clutch pipped before I cut the rest (and that is my general rule). Almost all of my clutches seem to pip on day 52 (my thermostat is set to 90). Out of curiosity, I have cut a couple of clutches on day 51 and haven't had any problems. The only reason I have cut on day 51 is that my clutches usually start piping on day 52. It usually takes 1 to 3 days for my hatchlings to come out once they have pipped the egg, or I have cut it.

Once they pip can I take the cover off the container or leave it on?
