Good thing none of my pets need crickets just rodents and cat food haha.
Thank you for helping me with Loki, I'll keep an eye on him and see if his sensitivity gets better!

Not the greatest photo there, closer and focused but I would bet on a burn.

I get my cypress mulch at Petsmart too, I believe it's labelled "Jungle Earth" or something like that. It doesn't actually come out and say cypress unless you read the ingredients.
I've heard of people finding it at hardware/gardening stores too. Apparently you just need to be careful of any parasites hitching a ride and make sure there are no super large pieces. MUCH cheaper apparently. I'm going to be looking into it soon. The big $50 Petsmart bag only lasts me about a month with 13 snakes.

I'm 90% sure it wasn't a burn but a wound from the rat. The amount of blood there was with the original injury indicated more of a trauma than a burn, most burns do not bleed but may ooze plasma. Then again, this is me applying human medical knowledge to a snake...

I'll keep an eye out for the Jungle Earth! I'll also check out some at the hardware store, though I heard some of the chemical treatments they may use on the cypress there is bad for snakes. I'll do some more research on safe brands
