Moving the hide around??

Sorry for blowing up the threads >.< Thought I had it all worked out...

Eden is in a new cage(Exo-Terra Med Low, 24"x18"x12") and she has a simple setup: a water dish, an Exo-Terra hide(Large), and some foliage. She has a 75w incandescent bulb positioned above the hide for night use and a mat underneath intended for all day HOWEVER we have not plugged it in because we need to save for a thermostat. I have the hide in the back right corner to help keep the foam backing steady, but she is literally moving it! I will wake up, and she will have it pressed up against her water dish. I haven't checked ambient temps...could it be too warm?
P.S. I wanted RB hides, but everyone says her cage will lack personality if I do so :/ I didn't know what size she needed, either. 2.5', 548g last I checked...

Snakes definitely reposition hides. I don't see it as a big deal. Watching your animal is the best indicator of their environmental conditions. What are your temps?

Mine move their hides all the time. I usually put the hide over the UTH on feeding day, and it will stay there for 2-3 days, and then slowly migrate off of the heat.

50% humidity and 80° ambient heat. She hasn't even explored her new cage at all :/ She hides the entire time and used to be so active. She has fed twice for me though.

That makes sense. I haven't had a chance to use hers yet but I worry. When in her hide, she pushes the substrate aside and sits on the glass. O.o

Mine moves around ALL the time. Especially when she knocks over the hygrometer ... The hide I placed over the UTH never stays there, and she also moves around the probe too (I haven't hot glued it down yet)

I would just get the large RB hides for 548g snake. I used the large ones for my girl when she was about 500g and she grew into them fine. And yes, they move stuff around a lot when they are hungry. My girl will knock over her Acurite temp thing and then flatten it into the aspen plus push both hides around and shove aspen all over into piles whenever she is hungry. Get used to it lol.

And she is all active? It might be too cold and she is trying to find a nice warm spot. My BP goes into a food coma for about 5 days after eating unless I bug her. Both my BCIs curl up and are quiet for about 3 days, then they usually will sit out and "wait" for the next dinner and if nothing by the 4th day, my little sunglow will start climbing her pvc tree and exploring looking for that mouse. My big BCI will just sit half buried under her aspen with her face staring out the door of the cage lol.
