You can also use chalk. Draw a chalk line around the snake cage or grind up chalk. For some reason ants hate chalk. But of course this wont get rid of the ants, it will just keep them from going into your snake cage.

Wow sounds very good. Where do you place them ? I have 2windows, carpet, my bed and the tank. I usually see them on the floor, and just saw some by the tank

BTW it's a slow-acting poison to give the ants time to carry it back to the nest and feed it to the queen so she dies. So, you may find dead ants on the floor if they survived long enough to attempt a return trip.

Thanks for the help. I just bought a 4pack similar product and put them around the room so hopefully by thr weekend its all clear.

These work. I see sugar ants every spring, this year I also have the huge carpenter ants. I put the Terro out on Saturday, today the number of ants is drastically reduced and I expect by the end of the week they'll all be gone.

I've tried some traps and spray in my kitchen and just can't rid them. These are super tiny ants.

The problem with slow acting poison is that if one crawls in the mouth of the snake it can cause problems..

Suffering with the same problem. I have sugar ants so I know my snakes and salamander will be safe from them, but it's my bedroom so it's gross to have ants in it. Tonight I'm picking up borax and some terro ant baits. I just have to dump my small supply of crickets so I don't risk contamination. Should also grab double sided tape because they were in my salamanders cage before cleaning it yesterday.

Terro's active ingredient is boric acid/borax, which is much less of a problem for your snake than the permethrin products used for mites.

Also once that ant is loaded up with it, the ant goes straight back to the colony to feed it to the babies and queen.

Thanks for the great info. And good thing im not the only one with the problem lol. Its never easy when random situation occur.
