Just responding to YOUR original post.
Your words to question eveyones ethics.
You chose to post on a public forum.

Ethics plays a roll in my animal care.
They get better care than myself or my wife because we chose to take on that responsability.
Yes everything from the roach, rat and mice feeders up the dogs, frogs, dragons, chickens and snakes.
I know the responsability for them and I am not ashamed or at a lower standard than someone that chooses to feed frozen.
The biggest difference is not only do I take the time to clean, feed, water and raise my own feeders. I also gas and freeze for locals too.

Again just responding to what you typed and posted.
And Im not debating the what you feed, its the reasoning behind what you are trying to use as justification.

You know, you're right, I chose the wrong wording to be honest with you, "ethical" may really not be the term I meant to convey. In total honesty I really do have respect for someone who breeds their own feeders. Like I said I see benefits, including heath of the feeders, quality (gutloading), and cost and in all honesty, those can be considered "ethical" benefits. I fully intend on breeding fruit flies for some dart frogs I'm considering picking up If I decide to get the frog viv.

Like I said though, I don't really even fully understand myself what I was trying to convey to the girl at petsway. I could see she was young and probably didn't care much for snakes based on her reaction to their food source. so I didn't wanna make a big deal of it in the store, but I had to say something, and I was rather shocked haha. And truthfully the only reason I feed frozen I because I don't want the snake getting bit. I know it's not common, I fed live for 10 years with maybe 5 or 6 bites. Just something I wanted to avoid.

Sorry if I jumped on your back.

there is Nothing more ethical about feeding f/t vs live your delusional if you believe that, every point against live feeding is reliant on the owner being neglectful in the feeding process, as many pointed out in the live vs f/t they have been feeding live as long as they have had snakes and had no issues with prey attacking the snake, infact the cases are rare and most often completly the owners fault. Snakes can just as easily die from a neglectful owner feeding f/t food, snakes internals are extremly sensitive to cold and can easily become damaged by an improperly thawed f/t item and kill the snake.... feed your snake resposibly and you have no worries end of story

Nothing to be sorry about. Takes more than that to get under this thick skin.

Many people feel bad for the cute little mouse but dont think twice about the roach your dragon just chomped in half. LoL

Its a respect for life and the circle as well as understanding the work it takes to go round.

I'll agree with you, aside from when the snake has coiled the rat, but the rat has enough head and neck movement to sink some teeth in. That is how it happened with sapphire the times she was bitten. it wasn't neglect. Just this time around I wanted to eliminate that risk with loki. That's all. Sorry for my original confusion.

I get the same "whatchu feedin" response most of the time, no matter who I talk to in either of my local places. One (older) lady, when I first asked where the freezer was (our petsmart is HUUUUUGE) grinned and said, "Ah, looking for some icy micies?" She was so pleased with her nickname for f/t it was adorable and I've started referring to them that way too (even though I feed rats lol)

Lol I love it! Icy micies! It's usually an enjoyable experience buying food I get to talk about my pet, answer questions about it, pass on info. after they hear you're feeding a ball python many times it gets them asking questions if they have interest in them. "Are they really as docile as everyone says?" "is it really hard to keep the setup right?" Are questions I've received a lot in the past. Which usually prompts me going on and on lol.
