Re: Favorite thing about Ball Pythons

I love it when Marshall "pecks" my hand until I move it, it's hilarious!

Re: Favorite thing about Ball Pythons

My favorite thing about ball pythons is how docile they are. The only other snake species I've owned was a red tail boa, and she was calm as hell. I also love the reactions I get when I have her outside, people ask if she is real (no, she's fake), and some people who were afraid of snakes before even get the courage to touch her, and I find that amazing.

My favorite thing is the diversity of patterns/morphs. Everything else such as their size, temperament, ease of care and just overall coolness ties for a close second.

I like seeing how nervous they are as a baby, and watching them learn to trust you and become more calm as they age. I also like how they all have different personalities.

Little alien faces on the side of the body. Actually, some of them look like ghosts, some like aliens.

It probably thinks the same thing about you LOL.

After handling, sometimes I'll hold Mr Burrows outside the door of the terrarium and wait for him to go back in voluntarily. And occasionally while holding him like this he'll pull forward, reach down and drink from his water bowl while being held.
It's a great feeling of cooperation and trust that he's comfortable enough to do this.

Thumbs up Re: Favorite thing about Ball Pythons

It has to be their ability to absolutely control rodent populations everywhere! Snakes in general don't get the credit they deserve for pest control. Instead they have been unjustly vilified. Good thing we have USARK!

I have only had one for a short wile and its my first. But my fav thing about him is watching him begin to trust me. I used to walk into the room and he would head for his hide and disappear. Now he stays on his shelf and kinda gives me the whats up look lol he even almost poses for pictures. He touched the heat lamp a while ago and got a very minor very small burn and I treated it with Neosporin and even in pain he didn't lash out at me. I know that they are wild and don't have "feelings" but I think that we are building some sort of bond at least a bond of mutual trust. All of the morphs and breeding possibilities are awesome too.
