SPCA still has to go through a judge and present probable cause for a warrant. unless the animals in question are living in such terrible conditions that they're matted with feces and the smell of ammonia smacks you in the face from five feet away from the closed front door I wouldn't worry about it. I seriously doubt your conditions are even in the ballpark for a warrant to be part of the question.

I doubt you'll have anyone asking to enter your home. from what I can tell your animals are being kept just fine. Anyone who wants a warrant needs to go through a judge.

OP within the law you have nothing to worry about, the maintenance guy or even your landlord cannot go in your domain without permission end story. However if you feel he might not follow that particular law, security or moving would be the only effective options I can think of. Sorry you have to be dealing with utter crap.

I do find it funny how she wants to defend his right to photograph. If she wants to exercise rights I wonder how squatter rights work in your area....
If I'm not mistaken, if a person manages to live somewhere for a certain amount of time, squatting or not, they become legal residents. And they require 30 days to vacate. Even if someone else owns the property. Lots of squatters around here. It's insane.

There is nothing to worry about with your snakes. If you have the pictures, post them here and we can have a better understanding of what to worry about.
I actually do not have the pictures nor was I shown the pictures in question. I know the rabbits and the rack were photographed, but not details or the amount of pictures. The rabbit pen was cleaned a couple days prior, as were the snakes.

Maybe I should have asked to see the photos in question? I'm not sure it matters; he couldn't have caught anything incriminating on camera because there was nothing incriminating to begin with as far as husbandry. I guess my only concern is that I have over 20 snakes and a herd of 5 elderly nuetered house rabbits (litter trained). I worry that the amount of snakes will be questioned.

I probably shouldn't worry. I've been reading up on laws and pretty much most laws here are in reference to cats and dogs specifically, such as the amount you can have within the city. Small animals/reptiles don't seem to have an amount, and only bad husbandry or abuse would be considered as grounds to send animal control. So I'm probably fine. The only thing that could happen is that my lease could not be renewed, which sucks because I like my actual apartment.

There has got to be something that would get those photos thrown out in court should they need be. But lawyers are vampires when it comes to legal help. You'd probably save money at that point starting a collection over

When it comes to some chicken stuff like a maintanence man snooping, I'd make some problems for both my land owners and maintanence guy. Tell your lords o' the land you have some missing valuables after the maintenance man left Even better, find some more stuff for this jerk to fix. Be over his ass like ugly on ape for every move he makes in your apartment.

I'm seriously pissed off for you right now.

I too am super ticked for you. I would personally make a huge stink with the parent management company if there is one. And if no results, move.

Something people may not realize but which I think you indicated you know about is that these crazy :cens0r:... People, some of them don't care what's legal. I fight as much as I can against PETA because there are cases of them stealing and killing peoples pets just because they're :cens0r: and they think they have a right to.

For me personally I would take something like this VERY seriously. And anyone doing anything against my animals is in for a wild ride. People would take any of my pets literally over my dead body... Heeeeeeck no. Unless there is a way you can use locks or something to keep them safe, I'd consider leaving.

SnakeBalls, my friend suggested reporting something missing also. I'm kind of hoping this will just go away, but should it not that's just one more thing I can do.

Anicatgirl, I'm really pissed. Right now these people are the parent managing company. I've conplained numerous times. Every time I call I'm talking to a new individual, but somehow every person I call is extremely rude. During the door fiasco one woman reemed me out for having to go to school and take an exam (I'm about to graduate with my BA if outside stress doesn't give me an aneurism first) instead of being home to wait for the guy to come fix the door. I told her I'd be gone for an hour but then I'd be back for a 3 hour window. According to her he could drop by any time and I need to sit around and wait all day for him (which I did the two days before resulting in a no show both times) She told me I needed to "get my priorities strait". I asked her if she seriously tbought I ahould miss my exam and fail the course and subsequently have to pay another $7000 (which I pay for myself) to take another semester, just on the off chance that maybe on this third day mainanance might show up. She stammered but still said yes. This coming from a woman who answers phones at an awful company for a living. Which is fine, my job is plenty humbling too, but I just arrive at people's door with a pizza and a smile, not career counseling and life advice to think about over thier greasy overpriced food. Needless to say, I was super super mad. I conplained and got blown off. EVERYONE is so rude. But unlike the previous companies, this one is huge and getting to the big boss, whoever he or she might be, has been impossible. With the previous companies I had the big boss' number because all of the tenents had it...or when you called the office the main manager or owner got back to you. I never complained before (I'm not picky about small stuff, I live in a very inexpensive place and take it with a grain of salt gratefully), I've never been made uncomfortable or mistreated, my pets were always allowed unquestionably, I've never ever been late on a payment...this whole experience is bizarre and I'm not really sure who to talk to in this company. I'm also a bit afraid to make a bigger stink, because I don't want it to somehow bite me down the road. I can only imagine that to have a HUGE staff that is all very rude to the degree that they are, the person hiring them must be a peice of work himself/herself.

Didn't read all the posts so if I repeat what has already been said, im sorry. With that being said, The owners of the building can call AC and tell them they feel the animals are being kept in deplorable conditions which would then spark off that whole deal. Also you don't want the ASPCA getting involved as they are one of the major players who advocate AGAINST exotic pet ownership like snakes. So this would probably fuel up your local ASPCA and get them all going. Also you never know people, they could say "omg they can carry diseases like salmonella or pose a health or safety risk to small children" yada yada. That is why I don't openly advertise owning snakes even though I own my own home. Out of sight, out of mind as far as im concerned when it comes to people. Not that you openly advertised the snakes. And I thought a landlord could enter an apt if there was some sort of emergency like your water line broke and it was flooding the apt below or if there is smoke or a fire or some other reason to think there is danger. Regardless it sucks as they have loads of money they can throw at a lawyer who WILL find some loophole. My advice would be start looking for a new place just incase, one that allows snakes. I mean all you got is beepers which are 5' at max. I mean its not like you got boas or retics. Anyways good luck.

They aren't in deplorable conditions, though. Not even close. Even the lady I talked to said they looked "extremely well cared for".

But yeah, I never openly advertise my pets. That's the problem, he just sort of took the pictures without consent.
