Substrate
Sorry guys but I think this may have been asked before but I don`t remember. I am getting a used fb rack with what looks like 100% ventilation on the top. My current rack I have maybe 25% or so and use new paper and water bowl. Humidity stays good as they always shed in one piece. The question is I would like to switch to cypress in the new rack. 1, can I get it at home depot or tsc in bulk and it will still be ok to use instead of ordering it from places like reptile basics? and then how do you keep the humidity up with it? Will it dry out and require misting once a day? 2, if I decide to use news paper can I just put tape over the screen mesh on the top of the rack? Any info and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,
Alan

100% ventilation? Can you post a picture of what you're getting?

Re: Substrate
Stay away from home depot if you are shopping for cypress mulch. "Zoo med" and "All living things" are the ones you want in your enclosure. The zoo med brand is called "forest floor" and the all living things is "twice milled". They both are 100% cypress mulch. Yes, it does eventually dry out and require misting.

Reason: I would use a towel on top and scrap the newspaper and tape

They look like home-builds based on the commercial wire shelving units from Lowes or Home Depot.

Wrong, Freedom breeders. Ralph Davis uses similar ones.
