I believe you need to think long game. Snakes live for a very long time. So - even though having the third may be manageable now, will you still have the time when you've got kids (assuming you don't), or you get a Dog, or some other pet down the line. I have experienced 1 snake, hundreds of snakes and now I have 2. I like having 2 snakes, 1 Boa and one Ball Python. they're different, each with their own personalities and traits - but to get another Ball Python or another Boa for me seems like a waste of opportunity. Why not, if you're going to get a third snake, get something different. Why not get a Hognose?

Don't take this personal, but he sorta states he has a dog. I really think that a lot of people reply without really reading the post throughly.

Yup, you're right! 100% correct. I read it, but I suppose I missed that part somehow. Thanks for clarification!

I don't think there is any noticeable difference from 2 to 3 snakes. But only you can make the actual determination for yourself. If you stick with 2 or go up to 3, GOOD LUCK! Snakes are pretty different pet.

It depends on how much time you have to care for them, how much attention you think they need, how elaborate their setup is and how difficult it is to clean their cages etc. Some people have over a hundred snakes and have no trouble feeding and cleaning that many every week, other people have difficulty finding the time for one. it depends ENTIRELY on how much time YOU have available and has very little to do with how difficult it is to care for 3 snakes.

    Re: Is 3 too many?

It takes maybe an extra couple minutes for each care task with my 12 snakes from the one I started with. Really easy. Check daily for spot cleaning and any maintenance, dump bedding and deep clean monthly, drop rodents in tub once a week, rinse/fill waters. The snakes are easy. The care of the rodents to feed them all takes much longer.
