Used it when I had them and killed them the first treatment. Its safe to spray on everything including the snakes themselves.

Spray and clean everything in, on, and around the snakes. I even sprayed my carpet.

You should put them all on paper towels until you kill them all.

The paper towels don't give them the hiding places aspen does and you can easily see them on the white background.

    Re: the mites don't care...

Are you spraying enough of it on the aspen? I was just battling mites a a couple of weeks ago. It took me two PAM treatments and a miniral bath for one of my BPs to wipe them out.

Poor guy's scales really suffered because of the mineral bath but it worked. It killed off all the mites on the snake and PAM took care if the mites in the substrate.

I sprayed my snakes with Reptile Spray and the only thing that suffered were the dreaded mites.

Reptile Spray worked so well for me that Im surprised that its not more highly recommended than it is.

I use Reptile Spray. Like KMG said, you spray it on everything including the snake (we applied it with a paper towel). I take out the water dish for 24 hours so Fuzzy can't wash the spray offand ingest it.

PAM doesn't work well with aspen or cypress - too many places for the mites to hide. If it's clean and you want to salvage it to use after the mites are gone, put it into a roasting pan and bake it in an oven at 200*F for half an hour to kill any mites and eggs hiding in it.

In the meantime treat the enclosure and paper towels or newspaper you will be using for substrate with PAM. Once everything has dried you can return your snake to the enclosure.

I also use Reptile Spray on the snake.

    Re: the mites don't care...

I use reptile spray for the reptile and provent-a-mite for the cages. Even though the treatment says you can leave the substrate in, I remove and discard. This is a lot better system than using seven dust in the old days before there was any specialized reptile product.
