No Probe on my Acurite, help!

Well this is not actually true. If you use a UTH for heat you wanna know the temp coming from the heat source not the ambiant temp or else you could burn your snake. If the ambiant temp in the tank is 90 the UTH could easily but above 120 or 130.

If you are heating from an outside source ( some people heat a whole room, instead of individual tanks, with space heaters) then measuring the ambient temp is fine.

Well if you have a UTH, it should be controlled by a thermostat so it doesn't get to 130. Additionally, 90 is too hot for an ambient temps. They should be between 78-84F.

What I was referring to is even if you do have a UTH, knowing what your ambient temps are more important because your snake can still get an RI if ambient temperatures are low even though belly heat is at the right temp.
