That's why I got my CHE set up in the middle. It provides more of an even ambient. You don't necessarily need the hot side really hot as you have a UTH on that side but you do want the cool side at least 80f. I have my temps set 83f cool side, 86f warm side and 91f UTH and my little girl never uses her cool side. Some just like it warmer.
