Exploding rats is why I dislike feeding frozen. I got all of mine from a large vendor and about 10% would explode when one of the biggers guys would go to wrap. I slowly thawed them but was still having some issues.

How common is it to have issues with f/t feedings?

If the prey is slow thawed and no re-freezed and re-thawed, VERY rare.

You guys ever have a f/t with feces? Like the snake wraps and then the mouse turns into a tube of toothpaste if you catch my drift...

Man this thread is bumming me out. I ordered my first ever bag of frozen rats yesterday. I hope none of this happens when I do it.

I feed my entire collection f/t and have not-once-never-ever had a problem with an exploding rat. I thaw at room temp over the course of several hours and heat with a hairdryer just before feeding.

    Just Happened

So I adopted a 5 year old BP about 3 weeks ago, and this just happened.

Biggest issue was that half of the rat was left in the tank because it fell off as she was eating it. In retrospect I should have known something was wrong when the tail broke off twice when I was picking it up with the tongs. Man what a mess....

Good to know I'm not the only one. Now to talk to the local pet shop about what kind of frozen they can get.
