    Exo-terra reptile cave hides

Anyone use these hides? just got 2 mediums and 2 large from amazon today, well came yesterday but i didn't see the box out there so they got there deep freeze in -12 weather.. the 2 mediums were pretty good no sharp edges and such but think they may be a little small for my 350g snake, seems like he just barely fit in it. The 2 large ones have tons of sharp edges in them that ive been taking my dremel tool to. Anyone else experience these same issues? once i get both the 2 larges smoothed out ill toss them in there, will probably have to get a smaller water dish cuz they seem huge but ik once I feed him he will be turtle shelling the medium.

Yep, got mine from amazon and both of them (large or extra large) had to be sanded. Mostly the edges but a few spots on the inside too. I'm happy with them though and the snake seems to like them okay.

Post a pic so I know what you're talking about. I believe I have the same hide. I had it in a tub in a rack, and quickly realized it was preventing the snake from getting full access to the hotspot. I changed to something more square as it allows for full access to the hotspot. I use those foam meat trays that people use for leopard geckos. That's the only issue I had with rock hides.

I have some. They're enough heavy, good looking caves, but really need a little sanding before use. Sadly the good size for my big girls is non-existent.

    Ouuuch....

I've got epoxy resine for a project to make some nice big caves in the "fashion" of Exo-terra. Will be in the DIY section if I get a little time to do.

i use them both for my juvenile burms and BPs.
the only thing i find troublesome with these caves is when the snake poos or urinates in them. the odor tend to stick for awhile even after cleaning and disinfecting. i believe its due to the porous surface of the cave.
other than that, my snakes love them

I have one, and my bp loves it! The other hide he has is different, and when I got the exo terra one he completely ditched his old hide and actually resorted to using it as a bathroom! Makes cleaning easy though, whenever I smell something in the cage I know where to look! Although you may have to show your bps how to get in... I know I had to. Lol he had no idea it was a cave and thought it was just a good old rock to wrap around

I got mediums for my little ball and he didn't hesitate to slither into them... and only them.
