    BCC pricing-Need help

    Hey Everyone,

I have owned multiple morphs of BCI in the past, and am now looking to get my first BCC. I am seeing a wide disparity of prices for suriname cbb BCC on kingsnake.com and fauna classifieds. Backwater reptiles has suri babies for 189$, while a breeder on fauna has suris for 400-800$. What could possibly be in place for there to be a 600$ difference in price? Whats a fair price for a female BCC suriname?

    Thanks!

Wow, good question. I'd like to know too.

One thing that cones to mind, not $600 though, is that the more expensive ones must have extraordinary color to them. And maybe some rare markings?

I can't answer these specifically (I only own BCI) but I would agree with the poster above... rare bloodlines or great color / pattern. I would not buy a BCC from a reseller like backwater.. I would go with a private breeder and ask to see pics of the parents and siblings as well. Price will vary somewhat within a litter too depending on color / pattern.

I post on another boa-specific forum. I know there are several Bcc breeders on that site, so you might want to try posting your question there. I've always gotten good advice there, but it tends to have less traffic than this forum.

EDIT: Here's a link to a thread by one of the BCC breeders on that forum showing her "holdbacks" you can get a good idea of quality by looking at them. I'm sure she would gladly tell you how much she sells babies for it you private message her.

    I agree with this post!

Just for a starting point, I have a pure locality Barranquilla, Colombian BCI produced by Rio Bravo Reptiles, which was Gus Rentfro's old business.

He sold his "average" males for around $150, and the closer the animal got to being a perfect example the more the price would go up. My animal was purchased from Legacy Reptiles as a breeder male for their program, but they had too many animals at the time. I bought it from them for $250 I believe.

Actually, Legacy has a lot of Gus's old BCI and BCC stock. Check them out and you'll see very nice BCC there.

I also am a member of a very boa constrictor specific forum and know of several breeders that produce excellent BCC locality animals.
