Yes, leave it alone. Your first lesson in Keeping Ball Pythons is that the more you mess around with them, the more stressed they get. Your job is to correct your husbandry issue. Here is a quick tip I often recommend to people to raise their humidity (follow the link).
Once your humidity is correct your snake will remove the skin on it's own.
