Ball Wont Eat in Enclosure

I recently got a Ball Python. About a year and a half old from a friend. He's very healthy I've had him for about three weeks. I've feed him once. But my problem is she feed him in a separate enclosure I want him to get use to eating in his regular home. Any tips to change that?

Does your BP consistently feed when in a separate tub? If so then you should probably just stick to that for now, then when you've had him for longer maybe then can you try to start feeding him in his new home.

Have you tried feeding him in his home enclosure? That is my tip, lol. Just try it. There is no magical procedure for getting them to switch. In fact they generally prefer to eat in their home enclosure.

Remove some cage furniture if the snake is reluctant to get out of his hide. Then put it all back once he has swallowed.

Yes, the last time I feed him it took not even two seconds for him to strike. But like I said this is my first time trying to feed him in his enclosure.

Just make sure you have the temps and humidity correct, enough places for him to feel secure, and keep feeding him in his regular enclosure. If you have it setup right and he's acclimated, he'll eat there.

No I tried for the first time Thursday. And he look interested but never took the mouse.

I have every little thing I need. I guess he just needs to get use to eating in his regular enclosure, instead of a separate tank. My overall goal is to get him to eat in his enclosure because what about when he gets bigger? I'm not buying a bigger separate tank.

All sorts of options here. Easiest since he is healthy would be to hold your ground and eventually he will get hungry enough to eat in his cage. Another option is once he strikes and wraps the mouse pick him up and put him in his enclosure. This way he gets used to finishing his meal in his cage. When im feeding some of my snakes get so excited that they jump out of their tub the second i open it and wrap the rat up. They are hanging half way out so i have to pick them up and set them back in before closing the tub. I would just wait him out though. Goodluck

HaHa This sounds much better. I've noticed he's a lot more active at night. I'll give him a few more day then try again.
