Exo terra thermometer?
So I bought the digital exo terra thermometer, and it's driving me crazy! It's so finicky and the temp readings will bounce back and forth between two degrees constantly. And it's so slow! Getting an accurate temp is very difficult because it takes about 10 minutes to get a reading. So my question is, which do you guys suggest that can be easily found for an affordable price?

Are you looking for a digital thermometer that sits in the cage or something like a temp gun? For digital thermometer, i just went to Walmart and grabbed the Acurite thermometer/humidity gauge in 1. Its fairly accurate(shows 1 degree lower than my temp gun) and seems durable enough as my BP likes to knock it over and push it around. If you are looking for a temp gun, pretty much any hardware store has them. I wouldn't buy a pet labeled one as that label is going to add probably 50% more to the price tag and half the time they suck. Above all, stay away from dial type as those can be off by as much as 20 degrees.

Since I got my IR temp gun I have quit placing thermometers in all my cages. I monitor the snake room temp and then use the temp gun for all other needs.
Search temp gun on the Lowes site. Somebody post a Ryobi for $25-30 a few days back. Or check out Amazon. They have a ton that are very affordable.
I have spent a lot of money of digital thermometers over the years and if I would have just saved the money up I could have bought the daddy of all temp guns.
The temp gun took my keeping to a whole new level and has made it much more precise.
I have had many Accurite units and my snakes have killed them all. The last one I had my BRB took swimming. They are pretty good but I even stopped buying them because they seemed to fail to early.

Lol too funny your BRB dragged it into the dish. And yes, temp guns are pretty much a must have for any reptile owner. Makes life so much easier. Now if only they made temp guns that could be used through plexi doors or glass doors, I'd be all over that one

Re: Exo terra thermometer?
I use a vivarium electronics temp and humidity monitor with the probe near the floor of the tub on the cool side and a temp gun (from auto parts store) for hot side and any other readings including making sure feeders are warmed enough.

Humidity gauge
While we are on the subject I have the exoterra 2 in on unit and the humidity gauge is :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:. The tank is pretty much a swamp right now I have to change the substate, but it's reading 30% any recommendations for a single unit humidity gauge that the snake won't beat around? I don't want those :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r:ty petco/petsmart manual ones looking for a solid unit. Thanks
