    you could control the heat from the lamp by adjusting how far the lamp is from the tank. Remember that whether you go with a CHE or a lamp, it will cause your humidity to drop. Just keep that in mind and be prepared.

    Yes of course. Good tip, keeping it further away. My tank is quite tall, so this would be perfect!

    Just go to Home Depot and buy a lamp dimmer. I use http://www.homedepot.com/p/Lutron-Cr...H-WH/100001525 until my Herpstat gets here. I use the same type of dimmer for my CHE.

    Also remember, a taller tank is going to be a pain to heat ambient air. That's why most people use 12-14 inch tall cages for terrestrial snakes like BPs. Floor space is more important.

    Yeah, I plan on getting a lower tank in the future, this is just what I had in my house. (Previously used for frogs)
