I used the same while we were moving cross-country as temporary homes for my collection. They worked quite well for me with a long strip of heat tape and a thermostat.
You'll need a rack for them (no lids). Before I type out a long response, are you looking to own multiple snakes and are considering a rack, or is this just for the one snake in one tub?
Edit: And how do I always manage to find the local AZ people on this board? Hello from the East Valley.
I'm planning to get only one snake at the moment, but in the future I would possibly want more. My friend and I are both getting ball pythons at Repticon tomorrow, and I plan to move in with her some time. She wants more snakes as well, so a rack system seems like a good option!
Edit: I'm from the West Valley! Are you planning to go to Phoenix Repticon? Have you been to the other AZ reptile expos? How are they like? This will be my first.
I'd suggest one of the Sterilite tubs that KMG referred to then. Checkout this thread for a little direction on proper set-up for one snake: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=139156. In that thread, I can't stress enough the importance of a reliable thermostat to regulate your heat pad. I firmly believe a thermostat is the most important piece of equipment you can buy for your snake.
After a bit, once you're comfortable with care and get addicted (oh, it will happen) then you can go down the rack road.
I know a few guys who will be vending at the show - they're all good people. That's the best part about this hobby, and we're lucky to have a really good local group here. As for me, I'm not sure if I'll be going. I'm on a self-imposed ban on adding any more snakes until I produce some of my own this coming year. We'll see though.
